'Landman.'

Landman leaves a lasting impression, but there are similar shows that deliver just as interesting tales.

The series follows the wild, competitive world of America’s modern-day oil boom in Texas, which is filled with drama, backstabbing and even a little lawlessness. But on top of that, Landman also showcases the complicated personal relationships of the Norris family, adding a deeper level of emotion and complexity to the storylines.

The show spotlights Tommy Norris (Billy Bob Thornton), a jack-of-all-trades for M-Tex Oil, who serves numerous roles, including as a landman, a crisis manager, a VP — and eventually, the company’s president. But with a broken family, crippling debt and substance abuse issues, Norris is far from perfect, which ends up getting him and the company into trouble.

In addition to Thornton, Landman features an ensemble cast, including Demi Moore, Andy Garcia, Ali Larter and Sam Elliot, among others. With season 2 concluding, fans can toward other drama series that have many of the same themes as Landman, from inter-family conflicts to run-ins with cartels, building a business empire, and more.

Here are nine shows like Landman to watch next.

Succession

'Succession.'

For those who love the gritty, cutthroat business world of Landman, HBO’s Succession is a must-watch.

The show follows the Roy family, who run a global media empire. When the family patriarch starts to get sick, his kids see a chance to take his place and rise to power. What ensues is four seasons of greed, corruption and complicated family dynamics as everyone fights to be the next leader.

Throughout its run, Succession earned 75 Emmy nominations and took home 19 awards, including three consecutive wins for Outstanding Drama Series. The series features a talented cast, including Brian Cox, Kieran Culkin, Sarah Snook and Jeremy Strong.

'Dallas.'

Before Landman, there was Dallas.

The 2012 series is a revival of the long-running primetime soap of the same name from 1978 that centers around the Ewing family in Dallas, who own various corporations in the oil and ranching industries. With power and generational wealth comes drama, betrayal and manipulation.

The revival series starred actors like Jordana Brewster and Brenda Strong, as well as returning cast members from the original series, like Patrick Duffy.

Yellowstone

'Yellowstone.'

As Landman fans may know, the series is created by Taylor Sheridan, who is known for his collection of series that all have a certain je ne sais quoi, which makes them all feel cohesive despite having different settings and premises.

He’s best known for his Yellowstone, which follows the Dutton family and their ranch in Montana. Like most of Sheridan’s shows, it features themes like family legacy, deceit and conflicting personal interests.

Kevin Costner led the cast, with him earning a Golden Globe win for Best Actor in a Drama Series in 2023.

The Waterfront

'The Waterfront.'

Landman shows Norris trying to run a company while also making numerous mistakes along the way, like getting involved with drug smuggling.

Netflix’s The Waterfront also centers around a small-town family running a failing fishing business and padding their pockets by helping cartels smuggle drugs using their fishing boats. Naturally, it all goes wrong and the family finds themselves in the middle of dueling cartels, putting their lives in danger.

Dynasty

A reboot of the 1981 series of the same name, Dynasty is about two dueling tycoon families and the complexities of their business and personal affairs — sometimes pooling resources and other times getting into bitter competition.

For fans who love Landman’s high-stakes business drama combined with its vulnerable look at generational trauma and family dysfunction, Dynasty is worth watch.

The Righteous Gemstones

'The Righteous Gemstones.'

Just as Landman pulls back the curtain and shows the ruthless wheelings and dealings of the oil industry, The Righteous Gemstones does the same for evangelical megachurches.

Led by patriarch Eli Gemstone, the Gemstones build their ministry empire and squander much of the church’s money in the process.

While The Righteous Gemstones is much funnier and sillier than Landman, it features a notable cast, comprised of John Goodman, Danny McBride and Adam Devine. There are also recurring characters played by Bradley Cooper, Walton Goggins, and Dermot Mulroney, among many others.

Tulsa King

'Tulsa King.'

Another Sheridan show, Tulsa King sees a mobster known as “The General” get exiled to Tulsa, Okla., where he sets up a new criminal enterprise.

Whereas Landman sees Norris get caught up with cartels, Tulsa King depicts the story from the opposite side, where viewers follow the mafia kingpin as he extorts business owners whom he thinks he can benefit from.

The General finds himself mixed up with the drug industry, and Tulsa King features a dysfunctional family and themes of loyalty, betrayal, and power. The characters are brought to the screen by actors like Sylvester Stallone, Garrett Hedlund, Robert Patrick and Kevin Pollack.

Goliath

'Goliath.'

In Goliath, Thornton plays a troubled lawyer who lives in a self-imposed exile after he helped a murderer win a court trial. As an added twist, the murderer begins another killing spree once he's free again.

Now, living in despair and regret, he gets a chance at redemption when he picks up a court case against a corrupt corporation. In both Landman and Goliath, Thornton’s characters are flawed anti-heroes who struggle with substance abuse and the moral quandaries of doing what’s right.

Goliath also stars William Hurt, J.K. Simmons and Maria Bello, among others.
