Braylon Mullins' family is no stranger to the basketball court.
The University of Connecticut basketball star was raised in Indiana by his dad, Josh Mullins, and his mom, Katie Mullins. He grew up with two brothers, who not only played alongside him for their high school basketball team, but were also coached by their dad, a former player himself.
"My dad taught me to be persistent and just trying to make sure you fight through all the hard," Braylon told CBS Sports in March 2026. "I think he was the one who just pushed me to the max. ... He just made life easier in college for me."
After Braylon made the buzzer-beater shot that sent UConn into the March Madness Final Four on March 29, his dad shared his reaction with CT Insider, saying, "It's a surreal moment."
"I'm still trying to process it," he said. "I can't believe it went in."
Here's everything to know about Braylon Mullins' parents.

Katie's Instagram bio reads, "Married to my high school sweetheart," but she revealed in a post that they met when they were 7 years old, "sitting in the same second-grade class at Harris Elementary."
As Katie shared in the Instagram post, she and Josh had their first date on Feb. 14, 1998, and tied the knot on Sept. 17, 2005.

Braylon has basketball in his genes, as his dad is a former shooter who played for IU-Indy over two decades ago, per CT Insider.
According to the outlet, Josh was Braylon's assistant coach when he played for the Greenfield-Central High boys basketball team.
Even though Josh is no longer Braylon's official coach, the UConn player still expects a bit of light critique from his dad.
"I know I'll hear from my dad, 'You probably should have hit the easier one,' " Braylon told CT Insider after the March 29 game. "I'm just happy we won that game."

Prior to committing to UConn, Katie took Braylon for an unofficial campus visit in November 2024.
Katie spoke to CT Insider about UConn, saying that she "absolutely [loved]" the town and felt as though the "culture" of the basketball team reminded her of what Braylon had in high school.
The proud mom said she "was not opposed" to him going to school in Connecticut, but admitted that he is a "momma's boy" who hasn't lived that far from home.
"He is kind of a momma's boy, he's not ever left very far from home," she said. "But when we came here, it was comfortable. I felt like it was home. I couldn't not see him being here."
