Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie‘s youngest daughter, Vivienne, has legally dropped her father’s surname just months after turning 18.

A California judge approved the 18-year-old’s request on Monday, November 2, making her the fourth of the former couple’s six children to officially have only the Jolie surname.

Vivienne had already adopted the Jolie name professionally on Broadway

Court documents confirm that Vivienne will now be known as Vivienne Marcheline Jolie, dropping the “Pitt” from her previous name, Vivienne Marcheline Jolie-Pitt. The hearing reportedly proceeded without objections.

She filed her petition in July, after her 18th birthday. The decision formalizes a change she had already made professionally, having been credited as Vivienne Jolie in the Playbill for the Broadway production of The Outsiders in May 2024.

Vivienne worked with her mother on The Outsiders. She served as a producer on the stage adaptation.

Angelina Jolie previously called her children ‘six very individual human beings’

The teenager is the youngest of Jolie and Pitt’s six children. She was born in July 2008 along with her twin brother, Knox, and has largely stayed out of the public spotlight.

“I have six very individual human beings in my home. I am so excited about all the different stages and feelings and curiosities that they go through. Why wouldn’t you?” she said.

“We’re supposed to help them figure out who they are. And you can’t figure out who they are if you don’t enthusiastically develop with them,” the actress added.

Vivienne follows siblings Maddox, Zahara and Shiloh in dropping their father’s surname through legal proceedings.

Shiloh was the first to make the move, submitting her request on her 18th birthday in May 2024.

Maddox’s name change was formalized on September 14. Zahara’s request was approved on September 28.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie finalized their divorce in 2024

The family developments follow a lengthy separation between Pitt and Jolie. The actors split in 2016 after 12 years together, including two years of marriage. Their divorce was finalized in December 2024.

Their relationship has remained under public scrutiny after an alleged confrontation aboard a private plane in September 2016. Reports previously alleged that Pitt had been “verbally abusive” and “physical” towards one of the children during the incident.

The FBI subsequently cleared the actor, while the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services concluded its investigation without findings of abuse.
