Kate Middleton opened up about the hobby that helped her during her cancer treatment in 2024, which marked a tumultuous phase in her life. Confessing that she found it difficult to read during that particular time, she revealed that she turned to coloring, which proved to be extremely therapeutic for her.

A clip of her June 2026 visit to The Christie in Manchester, a specialist cancer center, has been going viral on the internet, where she could be seen interacting with the patients and sharing some anecdotes about her own journey.

While meeting the patients and the staff members in an art therapy room, Kate could be seen talking especially to a man who had been visiting the center for the past three years and said painting helped him during his battle with cancer, even though he had never painted before.

The Princess of Wales also revealed to him how she herself turned to coloring after having difficulty reading or pursuing other hobbies during her cancer treatment.

ā€œI Didn’t Really Have The Ability to Readā€¦ā€

According to a news report in Hello Magazine, Kate said, ā€œI don’t know about you, but I didn’t really have the ability to read or focus on anything. And actually colouring was my way of exploring interesting things and being able to do something that didn’t require an end product or an end finished piece.ā€

Speaking further about turning to coloring during her battle with cancer, the Princess of Wales said, ā€œBut actually just a way of playing and losing yourself, exactly, and lots of thoughts came up in that process.ā€

To the delight of royal fans, Kate Middleton revealed that she was in remission from cancer in early 2025. She also started resuming public engagements, which also earned her praise from people.

According to a report by Royal Marsden, where Kate had undergone her cancer treatment, cancer-related cognitive impairment (CRCI), is a common issue among cancer patients, which can affect attention span and ability to perform everyday tasks.

The report further stated that it is caused both by the cancer and the aftermath of the treatments. In such a scenario, the patients are requested to take adequate rest and to write down things that are important as well as to read them aloud.

Last month, the mother of three also visited the Oak Road Treatment Center and met with patients undergoing chemotherapy. Addressing them from her own experience, she said, ā€œYou need to support yourself alongside all the things you can’t control. Your body changes so much, not just physically, emotionally, but the deeper side of ourselves. It puts so much in perspective, and you hold onto what’s important.ā€

The internet also reacted to the Princess of Wales sharing about her turning to coloring during her cancer diagnosis. One of the social media users said, ā€œThe Princess is blessed.ā€ Another X user added, ā€œMy sister got much pleasure in coloring in her last few months.ā€ A user on X added, ā€œColoring just fits. Stay between the lies Kate. Don’t paint or do anything messy. That’s good girl.ā€
