Ben and Erin Napier arrive for the 56th CMA Awards at Bridgestone Arena Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2022, in Nashville, Tenn. 56th Cma Awards

Fans of "Home Town" can get ready for a new spinoff of the HGTV show, but be warned: Erin and Ben Napier won't be the hosts.

"Home Town," which started in 2016 and launched the couple to fame, has had several off shoots, including "Home Town Takeover," "Home Town Kickstart," and "Home Town: Ben's Workshop."

The upcoming "Home Town Takeover" will head to Canada, and the location is why the pair won't be the main hosts of the series.

"Our production company is Canadian. The people who make our show, they're passionate about this Canadian takeover," Erin Napier told Cinemablend. "But because we're Americans, we're not legally allowed to host the show. We can only be in it as, like guest stars."

Ben added, "A Canadian broadcast show has to be hosted by Canadian talent."

In April, 2023, Canada passed the Online Streaming Act, with the goal of giving "Canadians more opportunities to see themselves in what they watch and hear" and to "support Canadian creators and creative industries" and "increase representation of equity seeking groups."

The Napiers, who wed in 2008 and are parents to Helen and Mae, started Laurel Mercantile Co. to promote the rebirth of Laurel, Miss. "Home Town" has focused on renovating local historic homes and partnering with area merchants.

Spinoffs of the show have maintained the mantra of revitalizing small-towns. The new "Takeover" hosts to the north haven't been revealed yet, but they have the couple's full support. "We know who it is, and I can say that we really like them," Ben told the outlet. "It's another husband and wife team."

For Season 2 of "Home Town Takeover," Ben and Erin Napier traveled to Fort Morgan, Colo.

Meantime, fans can catch a new season of “Home Town” on Jan. 4 (HGTV, 8 ET/PT). Sometime next year, viewers will also get to see the transformation of the Heirloom Hotel, which was severely damaged in a devastating fire over the summer.

The 30-room boutique hotel in the Napiers’ hometown of Laurel, Miss., was part of HGTV’s “Inn This Together." But on Aug. 26, a fire broke out in the building. Erin shared in an Instagram post, that she watched the blaze with her close friends and owners of the venue, Mallorie and Jim Rasberry and Joshua Nowell. “We held each other,” Erin posted, “and watched while the brave fire fighters from the Laurel FD worked for hours to get it under control. Today feels like a funeral.”

Earlier this month, Erin confirmed to USA TODAY that the renovation will air in 2026, though a date has not been set. “They're still somehow finding a way to keep looking at the next steps and (asking), ‘Where do we go from here?’” Erin says. “And I don't know where they're going to go, yet. But, man, I'm proud of them. I think − even though it didn't go the way we all were expecting and hoping and excited about − if you want to see human endurance and the spirit of we can do hard things, it is going to be that hotel series.”
