- Jacqueline MacInnes Wood and Lawrence Saint-Victor are recalling their most memorable *Bold and the Beautiful *storylines as the series hits its 9000th episode.

- Wood tells EW that her Steffy Forrester's harrowing opioid addiction storyline has been her "most challenging" storyline on the soap.

- "As an actor, having to dive into those scenes, and execute them in the best way possible and make it all organic and real, with so much text — that was challenging for me," she said.

One of the youngest soaps on television, *The Bold and the Beautiful** *just celebrated the daytime version of a sweet 16: Its 9,000th episode. Star Jacqueline MacInnes Wood is reflecting on one impactful storyline that helped keep the show (by some metrics) the most popular drama on daytime.

Wood and Lawrence Saint-Victor sat down with * *ahead of the big 9,000th, as well as the launch of BBTV, the new, dedicated streaming app that contains *Bold*'s entire library of episodes, to ruminate on the legacy of *The Young and the Restless*' sister series.

The star behind one of *Bold*'s most critical movers and shakers, Steffy Forrester, at first jokes that "every scene" with Saint-Victor's suave Carter Walton counts as her favorite, before relenting that she simply couldn't pick one. But after 18 years in Steffy's shoes, one storyline clearly stands out as her "most challenging."

"Steffy is so fun to play. She's so fun," Wood shares. "I mean, she's just feisty. We've been able to travel the world, and Steffy's gotten to do some pretty wild things, like paragliding. Very hands-on, active things, doing my own stunts. It's pretty cool."

After chatting convivially with longtime costar Saint-Victor, Wood's upbeat humor dims somewhat as she thinks on Steffy's harder moments.

"The most challenging would be the opioid addiction," Wood shares. "As an actor, having to dive into those scenes, and execute them in the best way possible and make it all organic and real, with so much text — that was challenging for me."

Back in 2020, 12 years into Wood's run as the daughter of super-couple Ridge Forrester and Taylor Hayes, and as the granddaughter of *Bold and the Beautiful *icon Stephanie Forrester (Susan Flannery), Wood embarked on one of the most harrowing storylines of her soap career.

After Bill Spencer (Don Diamont) hit motorcycling Steffy with his car, she's prescribed pain medication by emergency room doctor John "Finn" Finnegan (Tanner Novlan), whom she later marries. In the meantime, Steffy's pain subsides, but her dependence on the medication grows, leading to a desperate downward spiral into full-throttle addiction.

"It is something that that we need to talk about because it is happening, and it is happening everywhere," Wood said in an interview with Michael Fairman at the time. "Someone knows somebody — it is in our family, or our friends are dealing with this, and I didn’t realize how close to home it was for so many people."

Talking to EW, Wood brightens back up while recalling Steffy's wilder moments.

"There have been moments where I've accidentally killed someone, you know, or tried to kill someone. I pushed Ivy (Ashleigh Brewer) into this electrical panel. God, I can't even remember the crazy ones because there's so many of them," she says.

As for Saint-Victor, his Carter's love affair with the tempestuous Quinn Fuller (Rena Sofer) is the one that "hits me in the feels," he says.

"That odd couple — this almost evil character and an almost too-good-to-be-true, goodie-two-shoes guy —they have amazing chemistry with each other, but they don't judge each other for who they are. That was a great story."

*The Bold and the Beautiful *airs daily on CBS at 1:30 p.m. ET and 12:30 p.m. PT and streams on Paramount+.
