One of Meghan Markle's most famous As Ever products has been compared to "gerbil food" following her appearance on MasterChef Australia.
The Duchess of Sussex appeared on the cooking show on Sunday, July 26, which was filmed during her trip Down Under in April. During the episode, contestants were tasked with making a dish "fit for a duchess." The meal needed to be centered around a seasonal ingredient while incorporating a personal, nostalgic story.
Meghan was asked to choose these ingredients, with the mother of two opting for Australian honey, macadamia nuts, celeriac, citrus fruits, and edible flowers, a signature touch she frequently uses on her own cooking shows.

And it was Meghan's edible flowers that seemed to rile up one MasterChef Australia viewer as he wrote on X, "Her flower sprinkles are identical to gerbil food online. Gerbil food is cheaper."
On the Duchess's As Ever website, she sells "flower sprinkles," which the page's description dubs as "a blend of tiny vibrant edible flower petals that act as confetti for your plating. This addition epitomizes the idea of 'surprise and delight,' beautifying any dish, and taking it from mundane to magical."

They cost $15 for a 0.18oz tub and contain dried rose, calendula, blue cornflower petals, and hibiscus flowers. The flower sprinkles can also be purchased as part of the Complete As Ever Pantry and Go-To Hostess collections for $295 and $132, respectively.

During Meghan's appearance on MasterChef, she tried to add personal touches to her conversations with contestants, dropping facts about her husband, Prince Harry, and their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
For example, while introducing the ingredients, Meghan revealed that her children happily eat Brussels sprouts at home, a detail that drew a surprised "that's impressive" from judge Poh Ling Yeow.
Additionally, Meghan delved into her own culinary style, expressing that she often opts for grilled meats, fish, citrus, and relaxed cooking, telling the contestants to "remember to have fun, to keep a sense of humor about it and to cook from the heart."

Meghan's guest slot comes as she faced backlash for posting a photo on Instagram of her children at Princess Diana's home, Althorp Estate.
During the family's visit to the UK earlier this month, they visited the private residence, with the image showing Harry and Archie carrying bouquets through the grounds. It is believed they were attending Princess Diana's gravesite.
Daily Mail columnist Maureen Callahan dubbed the image's publication a "vulgar act," and claimed that posting a photograph at the site would never be considered by Prince William and Kate Middleton.
