(NewsNation) — With less than 24 hours until Election Day and control of Congress at stake, Republican National Convention Chairman Joe Gruters believes some "big surprises" are coming.
Democrats projected to win back Congress: Decision Desk HQ
While NewsNation's polling partner, Decision Desk HQ, currently projects Democrats to win back both chambers of Congress, Gruters said he expects his party to emerge victorious in the races needed to prevent that from happening.
Record midterm early voting favors Democrats
"We have been building the momentum over the last 30 days with the president on the road rallying the base," Gruters said. "I expect our base to turn out heavily tomorrow, like we normally do."

In one of the most consequential races for control of the Senate, DDHQ polling data shows Michigan Democratic candidate Abdul El-Sayed holds a slight edge over Republican Mike Rogers.

Gruters, however, said he expects Rogers to win and called him one of the Republicans' best Senate candidates. This comes as Rep. Haley Stevens, the Democrat who narrowly lost Michigan’s Senate primary to El-Sayed, endorsed Rogers in a surprise move Sunday.
Gruters added that he believes Stevens' support will have "a massive impact" on voters and that "she's just one of many Democrats who thinks El-Sayed is too radical and reckless for that Michigan seat."
