Robert Pattinson and Timothée Chalamet have shared the screen before, in the 2019 historical drama *The King*. And they're going to share it again when Pattison joins the cast of Denis Villeneuve's *Dune 3*. But they were secret costars in another movie, which is currently hot on the trail of Oscar glory.

That's right: *Marty Supreme* features a clandestine cameo from the *Batman *star. Director Josh Safdie dropped that particular bomb on fans who turned out for a conversation he had at London's BFI Southbank on Tuesday to promote the film.

"No one knows this, but that voice — the commentator, the umpire — is Pattinson," Safdie revealed.

"It's like a little Easter egg. Nobody knows about that," he added in comments reported by *Variety*.** "He came and watched some stuff, and I was like, 'I don't know any British people. So he's the umpire."**

Pattinson's brief vocal appearance occurs toward the beginning of the film, when Chalamet's titular ping-pong contender Marty Mauser goes toe to toe with reigning Hungarian champ Bela Kletzki (Géza Röhrig). The *Tenet *star plays the announcer of the British Open semifinals in which they compete.

The extended *Marty Supreme *ensemble is full of such quirky picks and unexpected brief cameos from the likes of fashion designer Isaac Mizrahi, illusionist Penn Jillette, and *New Yorker *writer Naomi Fry. Safdie even cast entrepreneur and *Shark Tank *personality Kevin "Mr. Wonderful" O'Leary in a main role as businessman and Marty booster Milton Rockwell.

Chelsea Handler calls out Timothée Chalamet's controversial 'Marty Supreme' press run: 'Leo wouldn't say that'

Chelsea Handler attends the On With Kara Swisher live podcast at the Vox Media Podcast Stage presented by Smartsheet At SXSW on March 09, 2025 in Austin, Texas; Timothée Chalamet at the 83rd Annual Golden Globes held at The Beverly Hilton on January 11, 2026 in Beverly Hills, California

Chalamet shouted out to O'Leary during his speech at the Golden Globes on Sunday, after winning Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy.

"If you would have told me when I was 19 years old, I'd be thanking Mr. Wonderful from *Shark Tank*?" Chalamet joked as the camera cut to O'Leary applauding boisterously. "All right, you're laughing, so I got away with that. Thank you, Kevin - I would have been stunned, but I've been very grateful."

*Marty Supreme *marked Chalamet's first venture with one of the Safdie brothers, but a return for Pattinson, who starred in the critically acclaimed 2017 drama *Good Time*, which Josh co-directed with his brother Benny.

Pattinson got his big break by landing one of the leading roles in the *Twilight *saga as Edward, a sparkly and immortal vampire. While recently promoting his latest film, Lynne Ramsay's turbulent postpartum saga *Die My Love*, Pattinson's costar Jennifer Lawrence prodded at his infamous enmity toward the *Twilight *films by asking if he'd ever make another if the Safdies were to take the helm.

Showing how deep his respect runs for the filmmakers, Pattinson surprised Lawrence by responding, "Oh yeah, for sure."**
