Russell Brand appeared stoic after being convicted of rape and sexual assault on Thursday.
Brand was found guilty of one count of rape and three counts of sexual assault.
A representative for the Crown Prosecution Office said Brand engaged in “abuse of power and sexual greed, with a complete disregard for the impact of his actions.”
Russell Brand’s initial reaction to his rape and sexual assault conviction has been revealed.
The Arthur actor was found guilty of one count of rape and three counts of sexual assault on Thursday. He was acquitted on two separate counts of rape and one of attempted indecent assault.
“I’m good, I’m good,” he mouthed to his defense team, per the BBC. Meanwhile, his father, Ron Brand, told the outlet, “I just didn’t expect this, it’s wrong. It’s devastating.”
Entertainment Weekly reached out to representatives for Brand for comment.
Brand was remanded into custody and awaits sentencing on Monday. The BBC reported that he appeared steady and showed little emotion following the verdict.
Following the conviction, David Roberts, Senior Crown Prosecutor in the London Rape and Serious Sexual Assault Unit, shared a statement, saying Brand engaged in “abuse of power and sexual greed, with a complete disregard for the impact of his actions.”
“Russell Brand was predatory and used his celebrity status to commit sexual crimes. He was a manipulator with an insatiable desire to get what he wanted regardless of whether consent was given or not,” the statement read.

He also commended the victims for coming forward with their stories, adding, “I would like to thank all the women in this case for their courage in coming forward and seeing this sexual abuser brought to justice.”
The Rock of Ages star, 51, was convicted on charges that stemmed from several incidents that occurred between 2004 and 2009. Detectives began investigating Brand in September 2023 after allegations arose from a joint investigation by The U.K. Times, The Sunday Times, and U.K. network Channel 4’s television series Dispatches.

Before the investigation was released, Brand shared a YouTube video preemptively denying the allegations.
“These allegations pertain to the time when I was working in the mainstream, when I was in the newspapers all the time, when I was in the movies. And as I’ve written about extensively in my books, I was very, very promiscuous,” he said at the time. “Now during that time of promiscuity, the relationships I had were absolutely always consensual. I was always transparent about that then — almost too transparent — and I’m being transparent about it now as well.”
