Ryan Phillippe is swearing off 18 distinct “things” he claims he is “no longer engaging with.”
The 9-1-1: Nashville actor shared the list to Instagram the day after Halloween, with the holiday noted as the first thing he has renounced.
The list also includes “fake love,” “being used,” “liars and ever being one again myself,” and “fantasy football.”
Ryan Phillippe has had it — with 18 different things to be exact.
On Sunday, while other social media users wound down from the first Halloween Saturday since before the pandemic by posting their costumes online, the 9-1-1 Nashville star went online with a decidedly different tone. “Putting this on main to keep me accountable. Starting my resolutions early. It’s MY list, not imposing it on anyone,” Phillippe captioned a lengthy list seemingly composed on his phone’s Notes application.
The list was titled “Things i no longer engage with going forward,” with Phillippe adding in his caption that what followed is “prob a partial list btw w more to come.” He also urged his 1.2 million followers to “post yours and tag me,” and signed off with the hopeful credo, “Resolution Revolution.”
The 18-item list, which ranged between hyper-specific and quite broad, and between evergreen and topical, began with “Halloween.” While his ex-wife, Reese Witherspoon, joined Phillippe in declining to post a spooky season outfit this year, their daughter, Ava, shared a photo to her Instagram stories of herself with two friends, all dressed as cats.
Phillippe’s list continued with innocuous subjects like “fantasy football,” “the majority of podcasts,” and “pro sports (except the sixers).” He added “politics” and “doomsday scenarios” before taking a turn for the vague, yet personal.

“Fake love,” “grudges,” “being used,” “being judged,” and “liars and ever being one again myself” are all out for Phillippe. As are “anything processed: foods or people,” “anyone who disturbs my peace,” “insincere obligations,” and “wasting precious time.”
