A schoolgirl has presented the King with her portrait of him – carrying a message thanking him for doing a “wonderful job”.
Olivia Rickards, 7, handed her drawing to the monarch as he arrived for a church service on his Sandringham estate in Norfolk on Sunday.
She drew the King smiling in a blue suit and tie, and wrote at the top: “Dear King Charles, thank you for looking after England, you do a wonderful job.”
Olivia, who was accompanied by her father, Terence, was rewarded with a handshake from the King during the encounter at the St Mary the Virgin church in the village of Flitcham.
He joked: “At least I’m smiling in the picture.”

The King has been depicted in several official portraits since his Coronation in 2023.
They include a vivid red oil painting by Jonathan Yeo, unveiled in 2024, which showed him wearing the uniform of the Welsh Guards, of which he was made regimental colonel in 1975.
The same year, a photograph of him in naval uniform with an abundance of medals and decorations was distributed to public institutions up and down the country to replace official photographs of Elizabeth II.

The King and Queen also unveiled their official Coronation state portraits in the National Gallery last year.
The King arrived at the church in his Lotus Eletre – the £160,000 all-electric SUV he bought last year – and was pictured walking into the church grounds alongside the Rev Canon Dr Paul Williams, the rector of Sandringham.

His attendance at the service marked the end of a busy week for the monarch.
On Monday, he welcomed Andy Burnham to Buckingham Palace, where he invited the new Prime Minister to form a government in a private meeting.
Two days later, he attended the opening day of the inaugural Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Sandringham Flower Show.
The King, who became patron of the RHS in 2024, and the Queen arrived by horse-drawn carriage and presented awards.
The green-fingered monarch, a lifelong advocate for sustainability and the environment, even put some of his own plants on display in a garden created with Catherine MacDonald, an award-winning garden designer.
During his visit, one man told the King “I’m the same age as you”, to which he replied: “It gets much worse, doesn’t it?”
On Thursday, the King and Queen stepped out from Doctor Who’s Tardis at the opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow’s Hydro stadium. They were greeted by loud cheers before taking their seats in the Royal Box, alongside Mr Burnham.
