Saturday Night Live writer Jimmy Fowlie is speaking out after a man was charged with the murder of his sister, Christina Downer.

Fowlie shared a video of their “last moment together” in honor of her birthday.

The L.A. County D.A.’s Office charged 41-year-old Delorean Bijon Brandon, Downer’s ex-boyfriend, with one count of murder on Nov. 2.

Saturday Night Live writer Jimmy Fowlie is honoring his missing sister in the wake of a man being charged with her murder.

Fowlie took to Instagram to share with his friends and followers that Thursday would have marked Christina Downer’s 39th birthday. “So I wanted to share this video of what turned out to be our last moment together,” he wrote in the caption of a video that showed the siblings goofing around during “an inconsequential night at the movies.”

The video was taken at The Grove, an outdoor shopping plaza in Los Angeles that features large-scale photo ops that Fowlie said he always found “puzzling. I’d see them and try to imagine a world where me and my friends would pose in front of one non-ironically.” But for some reason, that day he had a friend “take one of me and Christina as we were leaving. I just wanted to be extra and make her laugh, and I love how you can see her giggling as she walks up. She’s wearing her slippers which i think is so cute. In this video I feel like you can feel how sweet her energy is.”

The four-year SNL veteran described his sister as “one of my favorite people to make laugh. You could argue my whole comedy career was actually born out of sitting at the dinner table as kids and acting dumb while our dad became increasingly irate at me. It was a sacrifice that was always worth it.”

Fowlie concluded by thanking everyone for their support since Downer was reported missing last year. “It brings our family and her friends some relief to know that charges have been filed in connection with Christina’s death. Because this whole experience has been so endlessly depressing, today I want to spend a little time remembering how much fun I had with her and how lucky I am that she was my sister. Happy birthday, Chris!”

Last December, Fowlie first shared that Downer was missing and their family feared “she isn’t safe.” It would be another 10 months before two individuals were arrested in connection with her suspected killing in late October.

Days later on Nov. 2, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced 41-year-old Delorean Bijon Brandon had been charged with one count of murder and two felony counts of injuring a spouse. The other individual arrested, 34-year-old Kaylee Markowski, was charged with one felony count of accessory after the fact.

LAPD reported in a press release that Downer’s ex-husband had requested a welfare check last December after not hearing from her for “an extended period of time.” He told police that she had moved out several months earlier, but left behind her belongings, vehicle, and dog.

Bail for Brandon and Markowski has been set at $2 million each.

The comments section on Fowlie’s tribute to Downer filled with supportive comments, many of which came from his SNL buddies.

“Sweetest, cutest energy. I love that slippers too 🩵🩵🩵,” wrote Heidi Gardner, a cast member for eight years who overlapped with Fowlie during her final three. “The sweetest,” added Ego Nwodim, who also worked with Fowlie for three years. “I love you Jimmy ❤️❤️❤️.”
