‘Substation Has Insane Range,’ ‘Have Had Enough of This’ — NFL Fans React As 49ers WR De’Zhaun Stribling Suffers Injury vs. Rams

The San Francisco 49ers just kicked off their season in Melbourne. Their offense hasn’t quite clicked, although they’ve done alright moving the ball downfield.

They dealt a tough injury blow to their second-round rookie WR De’Zhaun Stribling when he headed to the medical tent in the first half. The NFL fans also reacted to the 49ers’ early loss, a team that has often dealt with injuries.

Fans React to De’Zhaun Stribling Injury Scare

The 49ers thought they lost Stribling to an ankle injury when he was examined in the tent, but it was initially only a scare. When he left the game, he had no catches. He returned to the game shortly after, in the second quarter, but not for long.

The 49ers are no strangers to dealing with injuries, though. WR Ricky Pearsall was ruled out for the season during training camp, and last year, they dealt with injuries to Brock Purdy, Jauan Jennings (who left in free agency), Nick Bosa, Fred Warner, Pearsall, and more.

They thought they’d caught a break with Stribling, but 49ers fans were already expecting worse given their recent luck.

“This how yk (you know) 49er football is really back,” said one fan.

“Bro, I have had enough of this,”said one fan.

49ers fans were correct to have worries; Stribling went down running a route in the second quarter, shortly after returning to the game. He was then carted off the field.

Stribling’s status for the game remains unknown, but it isn’t a good sign after being questionable, returning, and then re-injuring himself. He struggled to walk off the field, which is very worrying for his status.

Once again, he had no catches when he exited the game.

The electric substation near their practice facility has often been rumored to potentially affect the health of the San Francisco players. So, fans didn’t miss a beat, trolling about the injury and the substation’s effect, with the effects stretching to Melbourne.

“The substation has insane range,” said one fan.

“The substation putting in work all the way in Australia,” said one fan.

Stribling had high hopes for the season after his impressive preseason. The 49ers, whose offense ranked fourth on PFN’s Offense Impact Metric last season, were hoping he would be a significant part of their offense, especially with Pearsall set to miss the season.

Instead, the 49ers have to worry about another injury to a wide receiver, but at least they have dangerous veteran weapons to catch passes in Mike Evans, Deebo Samuel Sr., and George Kittle.

It’s time for them to step up, and Evans is already asserting himself in his first game with San Fran, while they hope Stribling’s injury isn’t too serious.
