Taron Egerton admittedly worked with a “nightmare” dog on the set of his new movie, director Jonathan Schey said.
The actor and filmmaker appeared on stage at the Toronto International Film Festival, where they lamented working with the “diva” pooch.
“Do you know how easy it is to sit there, as a dog? It’s easy!” Egerton said, while Schey called the canine an “a--hole of a dog” to work with.
Well someone definitely isn’t getting a treat after wreaking havoc on the set of Taron Egerton’s new (and wildly titled) movie Everybody Wants to F--- Me.
Speaking Friday night to a packed house at the comedy-horror movie’s premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, the Rocketman star and director Jonathan Schey comically went off on Egerton’s four-legged scene partner.
Schey called the film’s rough-coated Jack Russell terrier a “nightmare” to work with because the pooch couldn’t sit still for several key scenes during production.

“Do you know how easy it is to sit there, as a dog? It’s easy!” Egerton quipped on stage, while Schey recalled that “this dog would not sit” when the crew needed it to.
“It would move! All it needed to do was sit, and it wouldn’t sit,” Schey said, adding that “the editing job” done in post-production made the dog’s performance seem flawless.
Still, “that dog was a diva and a nightmare, and was also doing Bridgerton and something else. It was just swanning around,” added Schey. “It was a total nightmare. A--hole of a dog!”
Referencing Brad Pitt’s upcoming movie Heart of the Beast — which also prominently features a dog actor — Egerton finished by noting, “Whatever Brad Pitt has got going on with that dog in that film, that is not what happened here.”

Egerton leads Everybody Wants to F--- Me as Adam, an art gallery assistant who carefully curates a virtue-signaling persona in the hopes of having sex with as many women as he can — until his behavior comes to a halt after meeting a mysterious woman (Jessica Henwick) whose presence in Adam’s life leads him down a path of emotional (and horrifically physical) change.

The film deftly builds from being a cheeky rom-com into a borderline body-horror creep show, all while Adam navigates a disturbing new chapter in his life while his beloved dog, Lola, waits for him at home.
Schey described crafting the plot as a series of “f---ed-up s---” that happens in quick succession. Responding to a question about how he was able to connect with Adam upon joining the film, Egerton told an audience member that he doesn’t “feel that I ever found him, because I don’t think he’s found himself” as a human.

“He was sort of challenging to play because he’s someone in a place of existential lostness,” Egerton observed. “He’s performing who he thinks he should be rather than finding out who he really is.”
Everybody Wants to F--- Me does not yet have a release date or a domestic distributor.
