NEW YORK — Taylor Swift says from the time she started performing at 14, she’s been “obsessed with taking people to a place that created a form of escape.”

For 21 months beginning in March 2023 and 149 shows on five continents, Swift engaged in her dream for 3 ½-hours on stage, fulfilling fans with a concert production unlike any other.

The chronicle of that journey, “The End of an Era,” arrives as a six-episode docuseries on Disney+ starting Dec. 12, a day before Swift turns 36. A preview of Episode 1 will also air at 8 p.m. ET Dec. 12 on ABC.

At an intimate screening of the first two installments of the documentary Dec. 9 in New York, Swift addressed the small theater filled with her family (parents Scott and Andrea and brother Austin), media members (Hoda Kotb, Willie Geist, Gayle King) and, most outwardly joyful, her band and colorful dance crew.

“The directors (Don Argott and Sheena M. Joyce) expanded upon the stories of not just me, but everyone who was part of this,” Swift said, clad in a short pleated skirt over maroon tights and black knee-high boots. “There was a lot of magic and mystery that happens when something goes as well as this (tour) did.”

The behind-the-scenes account delves into the details of the creation of the tour, with episodes spotlighting tour guests Sabrina Carpenter (who duets with Swift on the title track of “The Life of a Showgirl” album), Ed Sheeran, Florence Welch and Swift’s fiance, Travis Kelce.

Two episodes of the documentary will debut each Friday until Dec. 26.

Also arriving Dec. 12 on Disney+ is the concert film “Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour | The Final Show,” recorded during her last Eras show Dec. 8, 2024, in Vancouver. While Swift released the record-breaking “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour” film in 2023, “The Final Show” features the entire set of songs from “The Tortured Poets Department,” which was added to her epic concerts following the album’s 2024 release.

A one-hour presentation of “The Final Show” will air at 8 p.m. ET on ABC Dec. 12.

Swift’s pride in her unprecedented accomplishment, as well as her affection for the team that stood at her side, was apparent at Tuesday’s screening.

“The Eras Tour,” she said with a smile, “was a lifetime within my life.”
