- Universal Kids Resort's opening date has finally been revealed, heralding the company's new theme park in Frisco, Tex.

- The resort will include two roller coasters and numerous rides and attractions themed to *Shrek*, *Trolls*, *Jurassic World*, *SpongeBob SquarePants*, and more.

- A wild *Despicable Me*–themed water ride starring the Minions is also set for the new theme park.

Life found a way to unite the Minions, Shrek, and SpongeBob SquarePants with the dinosaurs of *Jurassic World** *on the* *Universal Kids Resort opening date.

The theme park giant — which already operates popular parks in Orlando and Hollywood — announced Thursday the Universal Kids Resort opening date as it readies its next new heavily themed destination in Frisco, Tex.

The family-focused regional resort is primed to welcome its first guests later this summer, with the Universal Kids Resort opening date slated for July 1.

Universal Kids Resort will open with seven themed lands, all including popular intellectual properties ranging from film to television.

Rides and attractions at the Texas park will be based on films like *Jurassic World*, *Shrek*, *Trolls*, *Puss in Boots*, and the *Despicable Me** *franchise, while TV projects like *Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous*, *Gabby's Dollhouse*, and *SpongeBob SquarePants *will also be represented within the park's lineup.

In addition to setting tickets on sale, Universal revealed different package options for guests, including one- and two-day general admission tickets, an annual pass option, and a customizable package that includes hotel accommodations at the park's on-site, 300-room Kids Resort Hotel.

Universal Kids Resort marks the latest in Universal Destinations & Experiences' expanding global footprint. In 2025, Universal increased its presence in the Orlando area by opening the resort's third theme park (and fourth overall park, including its Volcano Bay waterpark), Epic Universe, in May.

The company also announced in 2025 that it would build a United Kingdom resort near London, though an exact opening date has yet to be announced for that project.

Elsewhere at Universal properties, the company announced last week that Ryan Coogler's *Sinners* will receive haunted houses themed to the Oscar-winning movie at this year's Halloween Horror Nights events in both Orlando and Hollywood, while both resorts are also currently preparing to open major roller coasters themed to the *Fast & Furious* franchise.
